In this morning's Nintendo Direct, Satoru Iwata revealed a collaboration with Tecmo Koei tentatively called Hyrule Warriors. It looks very similiar to Dynasty Warriors but set in the Zelda universe. Looks awesome! What do you think?
Next week we will be having a Super Mario Kart tournament over zsnes. You can sign up here. I will add more information later. Make sure to post what times you can be available!
Happy Turkey Day everyone! We have finished the Link Between Worlds soundtrack page; Finally! We've also added a zip file with all the songs inside for easy downloading. We also updated most of the tracks already listed with some fixes or changes. Let us know if you have any problems, or comments!
Exactly 18 years ago today, the Nintendo 64 was released in North America. With it's weird joystick and funky controller layout, the Nintendo 64 paved the way into true 3D gameplay. Mario 64 really showcased just what this 64-bit system could do, and Ocarina of Time still sits at the top of video game rankings. So what better time to pull out your Nintendo 64 and play Mario Party with some friends? What were your favorite moments of the Nintendo 64 era? Also, have you played Hyrule Warriors yet? http://www.youtube.com/embed/trKGdSUwE40
We at Zelda Xtreme wanted to wish our viewership a Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays as we are heading into Christmas 2013! Anyone planning on getting anything overtly exciting this year? Perhaps a Wii U? Or a 3DS? How about a Link Between Worlds? If so, let us know your Nintendo Network handles so we can add you to our friend's list! You can also share your gifts with us in our Christmas 2013 thread, or just browse everyone elses. I hope everyone gets what they wanted this year! :)
After Ocarina of Time 3D was released on the 3DS in 2011, fans have been petitioning Nintendo to bring it's younger cousin to the handheld. After many rumors, it has finally come true. Nintendo confirmed in it's November 2014 direct that Majora's Mask will be released on the 3DS in Spring 2015. Like Ocarina of Time 3D, Majora's Mask 3D will have updated character models. A limited edition of the game will be released in Europe that includes a poster, a badge, and a steelbook, but no word on if North America will receive this. Perhaps we could see a release of a special edition New Nintendo 3DS with this game? Time will tell. You can watch the announcement trailer below. https://www.zeldaxtreme.com/videos/majoras-mask-3d-announcement/...
Another heads up today for our users. Without much of an announcement, Nintendo has re-released Four Swords Anniversary Edition onto the 3DS eShop and it is completely free. Be fast though, as it will only be free for the next four days. Whether this means it will be removed from the eShop or just won't be free after those four days remains to be seen. Four Swords Anniversary Edition was one of the GBA titles given to early adopters of the 3DS as part of the 3DS Ambassador Program. Does this signal the beginning of GBA games coming to the 3DS? Let's hope.
It's been 10 years since we closed our doors, and *phew* a lot has changed since then. I wouldn't have believed you if someone told me 10 years ago I would still be making a Zelda site today, but Nintendo has been able to keep me excited despite my waning years during the GameCube era. You can check out our history page to find out more about the website if you haven't already. We are still working on building the website back up with about 85% of our content goal completed. Of course, with A Link Between Worlds releasing in under two weeks, we will have even more content to add.
Another year, another holiday season that has come and gone. As a lot of us head back to work or school, how was your vacation time? We are working on some new features for the website and hope to release some of these this upcoming week, so stayed tune for those. We've added a Link Between Worlds to the Zelda Cards so you can finally add that to yours! Nintendo has recently removed the Miiverse likes counter, so we are unable to use that anymore for our Wii U users. Is there anything you would like to see in regards to our Zelda Cards? What features would you like? Let us know! I've received a few emails, and there are some comments on the A Link Between Worlds Soundtrack page about that we are still missing a few songs from what I...
Just wanted to give a quick update on what we've been working on this week. We've added back the Articles section where staff members and other users submit their opinions on various gaming subjects. Soon to come in the next GamerCard update is a redesign to the card itself. We are looking at adding at least the Nintendo Wii U NNID's & 3DS Friend Code to the cards which requires the design to be adjusted. We are also playing around with a Steam API for a future update as well. In the meantime, make sure you have this information entered into your profile. We've also made more improvements to the overall performance of the website. Do you notice any differences? Is the site really fast for you, or do you notice slowdowns? Let us know!
Nintendo showed off the World Premiere of Zelda Wii U on The Game Awards tonight, and announced that the game will be released in 2015. The video shows off how large and detailed the world really is. Majora's Mask 3DS was also announced to be releasing before Zelda Wii U. What are your thoughts?
Another update on our Link Between Worlds soundtrack page where you can download each song from the game. We've added over 35 new tracks to our soundtrack page for your enjoyment. Let us know which one is your favorite!
It is two weeks until Christmas! Because of that we have switched over our radio to our Christmas Song List that will play throughout the rest of December. You can find most of the tracks from our listing last year, but we've also added some since then. http://www.zeldaxtreme.com/news/11/ Let us know if you have any requests. :)
Just a heads up that A Link to the Past is releasing today on the Wii U eShop for though of us in North America as our European friends have had access to the game since the beginning of December. The price is $8, but it is reduced to $1.50 if you have already bought the Wii version. Will you Wii U owners be downloading? Speaking of VC games on the Wii U, another interesting tidbit was released last night with Iwata announcing that DS games will be coming to the Wii U Virtual Console. This would mean that the Wii U will be able to play 10 out of the 15 main Zelda titles if, or rather when, the N64 and DS Zelda's are released for the Wii U VC. The obvious exceptions being the Game Boy Zelda titles and the recently released A Link...
So with the moving of the website to a new server, I decided to take the time to mostly rewrite the script as I've learned quite a bit of PHP since I began writing the original script back in 2009 and I was always unhappy with the performance of the original and the frequent errors that would pop up in it. A couple problems have arisen relatively recently that I had to figure a way around. One being that gamercards.xbox.com has apparently IP blocked our server from contacting them. Ironically this seems to have happened in the past month or so, after I installed the Leaderboards on the forums. So I'm having to use a proxy around that, but it itself is causing an issue now and then with the page timing out when I make requests to update...
I've finally finished up the coding for the GamerCard Generator and it's subsequent update scripts. There will probably be some bugs, but I've tested it pretty thoroughly over the past few days. I ask that everyone please submit any bugs, suggestions, or comments to this thread for the time being.
We've added more songs to our Link Between Worlds Soundtrack page. We are at 57 songs all together, and hopefully we will have the entire listing soon!
