We've gone back through the stockpile of requests and have added some requested images to our GamerCard Generator. We've also added some that weren't requested, but are more recent popular titles. We've also fixed some bugs on the script itself, and are still looking into the bug that sometimes makes the images not change correctly when you are choosing your selection. Check back soon for that. We've also added some more tracks to our Live Radio, and some improvements to our mobile website.
I was working at the pools today, so guess what that means! I'm so bored I can work on the website! Of course without internet access there it's kinda hard to do a whole hell of a lot, but thanks to backups of old content, I won't have to worry too much about that for a while! Of course theres a lot more to do before even nearly all the pages will be up, but we're getting there, so just be patient. I can say with most certainty that Majora's Mask and Ocarina of Time have the most (new) content right now. More to come...
Are games too hard for you, Johnny? Don't worry -- Shiggy's got your back. Starting with upcoming New Super Mario Bros. Wii, future Nintendo Wii titles will be shipping with the ability to, well, play themselves. In an interview with USA Today, the man who birthed Mario confirmed the existence of "demo play" for the next Mario game and "future games, too" -- essentially an option to allow the game to play itself when the player encounters an area too difficult for them to handle. Nintendo has revealed that their next console will be releasing worldwide in March 2017. Nintendo also announced that the NX will be absent from this year's E3 and will be showcased at a later event. This year's E3 instead will be mainly focused on the new Zelda title that is now confirmed to be coming simultaneously to both the Wii U and Nintendo NX, and will be the only playable title from Nintendo at E3. Unfortunately this also means that the Wii U version has been delayed, a third time, to 2017 after confirming a 2016 release last November. This means the Wii U will be the first Nintendo console without it's own exclusive Zelda title. It's likely we will see Zelda Wii U as a launch title for the NX as Twilight Princess was for...
Looks like the Zelda Edition 3DS XL is coming to America after all if this leaked Gamestop Promo for Black Friday is real. Included in this $220 package would be of course the Gold and Black 3DS XL system and a download code for Link Between Worlds. Nintendo has yet to officially announce it however, so here's to hoping!
We've fixed a couple of links on the Link Between Worlds soundtrack page, more specifically the tracks for "Fairy Fountain" and "Hilda's Theme". If you downloaded the entire zip file, then you don't have to worry as they were already included there. Just the individual links were broken. Thanks for the viewer who brought this to our attention. :)
We've added some customization to the site in the form of user selectable styles. You can find the selection box in the top right corner of the pages (the paintbrush icon). Currently we have 4 styles to choose from: Default, Fire Temple, Water Temple, and by request, Midna. I must note that the Midna theme uses a little bit more CPU than the other themes due to the dynamic background (which also means the Midna theme requires a generally up to date browser). I spent the last few days trying various alternatives to the background animation with some experiments going as high as 20% cpu usage. The current one seems to hover around 3-5% which I believe is pretty good and most probably wouldn't notice anyways, but your mileage may vary...
It was brought to my attention that sometimes, mostly on Internet Explorer, the site would load then switch to a white screen. This was due to a bug in the hit counter and I have replaced it with a home-made script. Sorry for those affected and thanks for those who submitted the bug report!
This week we saw the passing of one of the greatest entertainers this world has ever known. The man brought laughter and joy to all of us, and those people who grew up with him have likely felt the great loss that his death has brought. While we generally don't post about celebrity news on ZX, we had to make an exception due to Robin William's daughter. We may all be Zelda fans, but how many of us can say we named one of our children after the title character of the game? Robin Williams did, and Robin Williams did four commercials for Nintendo's Legend of Zelda games. We have compiled and uploaded the video compiling all four of his Zelda commercials as our dedication and remembrance of a great man...
It's that time of year again when Ghinis, Stalfos, and Gibdos run wild. As is tradition, we have updated our Radio to play our favorite Halloween video game tunes. Our current playlist is below. Have an idea for a soundtrack that should be included? Leave us a post on the forums and we'll see about getting it added!
Have you gotten a chance to play it? So far it seems to be one of the best Zelda games I have ever played! What are your impressions so far? Look at our video below to watch the intro of the game that we recorded ourselfs from our 3DS. Recording it was a bit tricky, and we spent most of yesterday evening coming up with a way to record it, but we are pretty happy with the results. Let us know what you think! http://www.youtube.com/embed/Skt70FFusXY
It's been about two weeks since the last update, so I better make a post so people know we are still working here! Do be warned, it's about to get a little bit technical. We've been working mostly on improving website performance in regards to speed and load times, as well as search engine optimization and other areas that are important to a user's experience. Some things we have done over the past two weeks: We've changed the Facebook and Twitter buttons to only load when your mouse hover over the icons as they had a pretty big impact on loading times for the website. We removed the flash from the main page due to it being a big no-no in regards to mobile. Also unnecessarily creates CPU load on PC's as well. Removed the Topsites...
It's been a while since our last update, but there has been a whole lot going on! From going to South Carolina, to buying and renovating a house, its been a hectic month! Regardless, there is always time for site updates! We have done many, many changes to the website since our last update, so many I've probably forgotten some of them by now. I really should write these things down in the future. :) We completed a big overhaul of the website structure for better uniformity and stability in the future. We've updated the forums and fixed the Arcade system so all games play nicely now. We've changed the font of the website again to help readability on different devices and improve site load times. The format of the website was...
It's that time of year where ghosts and goblins invade our closets, beds, attics, and shadows. In the spirit of things, we have changed the style of the website to a Majora's Mask color scheme, as well as changing the Live Radio to a mixture of the Castlevania series, Majora's Mask, and other halloween themes. Majora's Mask being released a few days shy of Halloween in October of 2000, the game embodies a certain spooky feeling even after all these years, even influencing a creepy-pasta called "BEN Drowned". Trying to save the world from an impending collision between the world and the Moon, the task seems even impossible for the Hero of legend. Majora's Mask is generally regarded as one of the weaker Zelda titles, but it is a personal...
Unlike many past limited edition versions of Zelda themed consoles and games, the Majora's Mask limited edition variants have all sold out within minutes of the pre-order opening up. Meanwhile, it is still pretty easy to find the Wii U Wind Waker bundle, as well as the Link Between Worlds 3DS. So why is the Majora's Mask edition so... limited? The shortage of Majora's Mask harkens back to the recent run of certain Amiibos that saw very high demand, but low supply. Is this part of Nintendo's strategy to artificially create even more demand, similar to what some people accuse Apple of doing when it sells out of its newest iPhone every year? Who knows, but the situation is frustrating for Zelda fans. Thankfully, some Zelda fans may still...
We finally achieved 2 million hits on August 7th, a big thanks goes out to everyone has ever visited!
Today Hiroshi Yamauchi passed away at age 85. Hiroshi was president of Nintendo from 1949 until 2002, when current president Satoru Iwata took over the position. Hiroshi oversaw the transition of Nintendo from a small Japanese card making company to the global powerhouse that it is today. During the height of success with the Wii, he was the richest man in Japan, and at the time of this death he was the largest share holder at Nintendo. Hiroshi was somewhat famous for his displeasure with the trends in the gaming industry, and had a very old school mentality. He was known to dislike the push for more powerful hardware, and wanted to keep games simple, addictive, and fun. After the news of his death was announced, Nintendo stated they...
Nintendo's Club Nintendo replacement and Digital Rewards service, as well as Nintendo's first foray into mobile phone gaming are finally live for us in the west. My Nintendo is the new hub for collecting rewards by completing "missions" such as buying and playing Nintendo games, answering surveys, and more. It is also the start to a unified account management system across all Nintendo hardware and services. Currently you can collect points by creating a My Nintendo account, adding your social accounts, playing Miitomo, or purchasing downloadable games on the Wii U and 3DS. Also as a "secret mission", if you click on the brick block on the bottom right side of the My Nintendo page, and then click on your Mii at the top of the page...
It's been thirty years since the Legend of Zelda was originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System and paved the way to one of the most heralded franchises in all of gaming. Two fans made an awesome 2.5D version of the original game, called it Zelda30Tribute, and allowed everyone the right to play it free inside their browser. It is not yet a completed project, but currently you are able to access and complete three dungeons as well as traverse most of the overworld. It is also compatible with either your PC or your mobile phone, but expect some bugs here and there. The developers are asking for people to play, test, and report any bugs they find to their Facebook page. The game played smoothly on both my PC and my iPhone...
