Ian has joined the room
Mike Llewellyn has joined the room
(1:23 PM) Mike Llewellyn: Thanks for contacting the IT Helpdesk.
(1:24 PM) Ian : AGENT keeps changing her password, but it wont let her channge it. when she does change it it tells her to change it again
(1:24 PM) Mike Llewellyn: Has she tried rebooting or logging in at another station?
(1:26 PM) Ian : yes this has been tried
(1:28 PM) Mike Llewellyn: So, she logs in with her temp password, and then she gets the prompt to create a new password. She enters a new password, and then what is the exact message that she gets?
(1:45 PM) Ian : yes that is right
(1:47 PM) Mike Llewellyn: Sorry, I'm looking for the actual message she receives after that.

what an idjit

I like how it took him almost 20 minutes to give the Puddy response.

Well this morning is off to a great start. I got a ticket from one of our server ops guys that there is a possible adware/virus outbreak in one of our larger sites, our AV picked up OpenCandy on a ton of workstations there last night. According to wikipedia its a typical adware thing bundled in installers, one of the common software listed is Foxit which we use. Why would the IT guys at that site install foxit using a garbo installer from CNET or whatever instead of the MSI we suppied on the ITshares? GAH.

(12:51) Mike Llewellyn: yeah, if that cmr was submitted i'm sure it would not be approved
(12:52) Mike Llewellyn: wtf is she doing working on LOA (leave of absence)? why bother going on LOA if you are going to keep working?
(12:52) jason: her sister died
(12:52) Mike Llewellyn: okay, well that is a good reason

man, its been seven months since the manager of my department (IT Helpdesk) resigned. that position STILL hasn't been filled, and for these last seven months i've been trying to manage the department while also performing the duties of a helpdesk tech and its starting to really wear me down. not sure how to approach the IT director about this without sounding like a jerk but I'm getting pretty sick of doing all this extra shit with no recognition. they need to hurry up and either make me manager or make someone else manager and I can unload all this shit to them and just go back to worrying about processing tickets and junk. gah.

Tickets I see like this make my blood boil:
This station has not been functional for over four (4) month. It continues to cycle through errors and random script. Please assist immediately - the functionality of this station directly impacts our team's efficiency.

So, its been broken and it took you FOUR MONTHS to submit a ticket about it? Yet you expect IT to help immediately?!? And how much can it really impact your efficiency if it takes you this long to tell us about it?!?

I get that kind of shit at work all the time. Station doesn't work/missing parts for months/years. They throw shit fit to get it fixed right away. Fix it, and they never use it at all. So infuriating.
