It would be cool if Fennekin was a Fire/Dark type
and Chespin is maybe a solid Grass type, Im not sure

that's some random gibberish. Squirtle was great, but so CHARMANDER AND BULBASAUR. the first 151 pokemans was the best. Though 2nd generation is probably my most favorite.

Is Pokemon trying to keep up with the people who started liking it in the 90s, when they were in elementary school?

It just seems a hell of a lot more complex and adult oriented than it used to be, and kids can't even pronounce half the Pokemon's names now.
